bird2

I enter the room,
see your form
cloaked in overwhelming sadness.
you stand on the balcony,
shoulders slumped,
looking out to sea.

a north breeze
ruffles your tresses.
a cool mist dampens your spirit,
causes you to shiver.
ominous clouds
roll towards shore.

as sunshine
I clothe you with comfort,
warm flannel like the shirt
I wrapped you in
one chilly night
upon the beach.

I cradle you
in loving arms
as my hands would nestle
an injured bird
vulnerable, defenceless
dropped
from the sky.
