at bay
the demons
of circumstance.
I am free to seek
my destiny
each step
a new beginning;
not directed by lines
upon a folded map
or aging palm
debris,
clutter collected
in determined piles,
returns to ground
once again
your song —
whispered on the wind
descends softly, sweetly;
comforts, in my dreams
forevermore

Hi Diana, thanks for your support and encouragement. I love your New Year’s Resolutions, as follows:
1. Resolution: I will continue to practice LovingKindness for myself and others; from this, everything else will fall where and how it is meant to;
2. Happiness Tip: Dare To Feel, Dare To Think, Dare To Speak;
3. Inspiring Quote:“The best way to capture moments is to pay attention. This is how we cultivate mindfulness. Mindfulness means being awake. It means knowing what you are doing.” ― Jon Kabat-Zinn
Mindfulness inspires worthiness.

Nicely put! It is the essence of poetry, that takes you into yourself, capturing your own journey in a few lines.

Thanks, Malcolm, for your kind words. I agree with you that “poverty has less to do with a deficiency of material resources than it does with the conditions that make a modest and decent life possible, namely safety, self-respect and self-fulfillment. Address these latter issues and the problem of poverty will shrink to its rightful perspective.” All the best for 2014. ~ Dennis
