.
.
after a night
of rain and tumult
shining sunlight spears
rise above the treetops
in a triumphant attack
forcing the heavy clouds
to retreat in disarray —
a new day emerges
victorious
i turn the page
to pen today’s events —
my mind still on yesterday:
mountain vistas, cotton fields,
deer running beside the highway,
a gentle voice from heaven,
a timid smile,
a giggle
today
is but a fledgling
(hardly begun)
the parchment unmarked
words are unwritten
I wait in wonder, imagining —
the endless possibilities
for verse and chapter —
the story
of us
.

Dennis, for some reason I started humming a lyric from a CCR song – “I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain…” I love your first stanza and how you tie it with writing anew in the last stanza. Well done sir. BTG

Thanks Jade, the shape was accidental, but I’m pleased with the way it looks. I probably couldn’t have done that on purpose. ~ Dennis

Today is always another day to allow the Sun to shine brighter in our hearts as we thank the storms that passed our way to show us how it clears the debris from around us. So that we appreciate those clearer days of light
